Job Description
The safety officer will assist the production department by evaluating and monitoring health
and safety hazards and develop strategies to control risks in the construction site. The officer is
responsible for inspecting the construction site to ensure compliance with workplace safety
regulations and the handling and storage of hazardous substances
Duties and Responsibilities (Not Exhaustive)
• Define health and safety policies, guidelines, regulations and procedures for the plant
site in compliance with government laws;
• Coordinate and implement safety rules in all construction and production processes
according to company’s policies;
• Organize training programs and educate workers and staff on plant safety measures and
practices;
• Inspect plant site to ensure that production equipment is safely installed and oversee
their maintenance;
• Regularly inspect materials and production processes to ensure that they do not present
safety or health threats to workers and the general public;
• Constantly carry out risk assessment analysis for every process to identify new treats
and provide preventive health and safety measures;
• Implement operational safety, hazard control and industrial hygiene programs;
• Investigate health and safety complaints, spills of hazardous chemicals, outbreaks of
diseases or poisonings, and workplace accidents and provide possible solutions to
management;
• Ensure that proper safety measures are being observed at all times by all employees;
• Prepare reports on incidences and provide statistical data to management.
Skills;
• A good understanding of the processes and practices in a cement plant and possible risk
zones;
• Excellent knowledge of modern health & safety laws and procedures and environmental
regulations;
• Knowledge in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics;
• Good communication skills, an outstanding aptitude to work in a team;
• Fluent in English and German speaking and writing; Working knowledge in French;
• Very good Microsoft Office skills.

Qualification
• A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Health and Safety Management, engineering
or any relevant field.
• A certificate in occupational health and safety is an advantage.
Experience
• At least 2 years’ experience in managing health and safety operations of plants.
• Experience in writing health and safety policies and reports for manufacturing
companies.
• A working knowledge of safety management information systems.
