CBM is a leading organisation in disability inclusive development, committed to improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in the poorest communities of the world. CBM engages in inclusive humanitarian response at operational and international advocacy levels. We aim to provide people-centred, timely, appropriate and effective inclusive humanitarian action to some of the poorest and most marginalised men, women and children affected by disasters, in partnership with organisations of persons with disabilities and other national and local organisations, based on the principles stated in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), Charter on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action, and Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and in close coordination with the humanitarian sector at global, regional, national and local levels. Supporting local partners and organisations of persons with disabilities to prepare and respond to emergencies is CBM’s unique contribution in the field of humanitarian action. CBM’s emergency work also includes working with mainstream humanitarian organisations to promote and implement inclusive relief and recovery.
CBM Cameroon Country Office is now looking for suitable candidates to fill the following positions:
- Position: Project Officer: Inclusive Humanitarian Action
Location: Yaoundé – Cameroon
Contract Duration: 2 years
Contract Type: Fixed term
Contract Start: ASAP
Main objective of the role:
Under the direction and guidance of the Country Program Manager, the Country Director and supportive supervision of the CBM Humanitarian Team, the incumbent is responsible for overall coordination and implementation of the Project “Disability-inclusive Humanitarian Action in health and protection sectors for IDPs and host communities in the South-West Region, Cameroon”, being implemented in partnership with PCC in SW-Region. He/she will be responsible for a strong project planning, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation. In addition, the project officer will oversee technical/ thematic and cross-thematic support services to partner programmes, operational management and accountability. The position will include coordination of additional staff relevant for implementation of the project.
- Responsibilities
Design, plan and lead the implementation of the project
- Overall coordination of the above-mentioned humanitarian programme in close co-operation with the partner organisation.
- Contribute to the development and articulation of strategic approaches for the project, project/programme management/staffing plans, M&E, budgets, annual plans, in compliance with CBM and donors requirements.
- Prepare/review/finalise and detail the projects proposal and operational plan for sustainability of results in line with CBM and donors requirements.
- plan deliverables and milestones and breakdown complex activities into tasks.
- Support the reporting (all types) of partners and colleagues to CO, donors following the administrative and financial guidelines.
- Lead the development and implementation of a knowledge sharing system for the humanitarian portfolio.
- Facilitate joint meetings and activities among partners and humanitarian organisations.
- Schedule external activities and evaluations, including ToRs development, consultancy selection, evaluation coordination, recommendations for decision-making.
- Elaborate and implement exit strategies for humanitarian projects/programmes.
Capacity Development and Knowledge Management
- Identify the capacity development needs of the country office team and partners in disability inclusive humanitarian action
- Coordinates the technical support from CBM technical advisors
- Induct partners on relevant humanitarian standards and tools (e.g. Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS), Humanitarian Inclusion Standards for Older People and People with Disabilities (HIS), IASC Guidelines on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action, through regular trainings and refresher exercises.
- Performance Criteria
- Individual Key Performance Objectives (KPOs) will be defined and performance measured in line with the aforementioned requirements.
- Essential Requirements
- University Degree in a relevant Social Sciences field.
- Minimum of three (3) years specific professional experience working in the area of disability inclusion, ideally with Organisation of People with Disabilities (OPDs).
- Prior experience with international development/ humanitarian organizations, particularly with transition programming, and/or programs that have both national and community-level engagement;
- Understanding of the humanitarian (coordination) system and humanitarian agencies.
- Understanding on the rights of persons with disabilities and challenges in the humanitarian and development context and relevant international frameworks (UNCRPD, CBR Guidelines, etc).
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of key humanitarian standards, i.e. CHS, SPHERE, HIS).
- Understanding of disability inclusion and related legal and programme frameworks and standards.
- Proven skills to plan and facilitate workshops, advocacy meetings etc.
- Strong training, facilitation and presentation skills.
Desirable
- Reliability and availability also outside of regular business hours.
- Previous exposure in areas of Inclusive Health, Cash Programming, Protection and Humanitarian Advocacy would be an asset.
Languages and Tools
- Demonstrated experience in MS Office Packages (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access) and good report writing skills.
- Professional proficiency in English and French languages.
- Position: Driver Logistician
Location: Yaoundé.
Contract Duration: 1 year renewable
Contract Type: Local staff – Full time
Contract Start: As soon as possible
Main objective of the role:
Provides transportation and logistics support and other related services to facilitate project implementation and assists CO fulfill its mission in Cameroon. Perform his duties to maintain good image of CBM within and outside the Country Office.

- Experienced in Cameroon road networks especially within project sites;
- Knowledgeable in local road traffic regulations, tools and documentations;
- Good knowledge of car mechanics;
- Good knowledge of security issues, especially concerning transportation of personnel and equipment;
- Experience in maintenance of vehicle fleet;
- Able to prepare periodic fleet management reports, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, gas consumption, oil changes, spare parts, mileage etc;
- Experience maintaining vehicle Logbooks;
- Support in procurement and inventory management,
- Ability to function as part of a dynamic team;
- Reliable, honesty and trustworthy;
- Ability to exert professional manners with staff and guests at all times;
- Reflects CBM values in daily work;
- Ability and willingness to travel to remote areas A passion to bring transformational change to the lives and communities of persons with disabilities;
- GCE O Level or BEPC. Training in defensive driving, vehicle maintenance would be an advantage;
- At least 5 years’ experience driving in Cameroon with sound knowledge of driving techniques preferably in an international not-for profit organisation or a multinational corporation.
- Valid driver’s licence,
- Excellent driving skills,
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly,
