Unity Co-operative Society (UNICS Plc) is a Microfinance Institution created on the 15th of January 2000. Among other conventional financial products like savings accounts and current accounts, UNICS Plc has invested a lot in the development of value added services like Automated Teller Machine and the sale of Bank Cards, Online Banking, SMS Banking, Virtual Private Network, and many others. For the past 21 years, UNICS Plc has been able to position herself as one of the fastest growing financial institutions in Cameroon with highly improved technological facilities and well-developed products tailored to the needs of the public.

We are seeking the services of Candidates who would be ready to work at any of our branches in the National territory in the following positions:

Job Ref. N°4/LR/UNICS: LEGAL AFFAIRS & RECOVERY OFFICER

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with Branch Managers and team, under the coordination of the Head of Department for Legal Affairs, Litigations and Recovery, in the proper management of the bad portfolio of the company.
  • Work in collaboration with the credit department to ensure effective credit analyses and debt collection management in line with company policies.
  • Work in collaboration with assigned branches for the follow up and production of regular data and other regular reports.
  • Work with assigned legal practitioners to initiate appropriate legal action, within the frame work of debt recovery, Litigation and other legal issues assigned to him or her.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Have at least two years of practical experience in debt recovery. Experience in a Financial Institution or debt collection department in another company shall be an added advantage.
  •  Have at least a Bachelors Degree in Business Law or other equivalent professional studies in law.
  •  Practical experience in the chambers of a legal practitioner (Barrister, Bailiff, and Notary Public) shall equally be an added advantage.
  •  Have a good mastery of the OHADA Uniform Acts and Jurisprudence.
  • A personality that is self motivated, engaging, positive, result driven and posses the maturity and personality to command respect.
  • Have the ability to negotiate and to design agreements for amicable settlements.

Additional Strengths:

  • Ability to communicate in English and French verbally and in writing,
  • Good knowledge in contemporary legal issues
  • Able to work in a team fostered environment,
  • At least good working knowledge in Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Be skilled in maintaining a flexible customer focused culture to the interest of the company.
  • Be capable of working under pressure
