Role Purpose
Lead site safety engineering for civil and building projects, ensuring compliance with Cameroonian law
and company standards. Drive risk reduction, incident prevention, and a proactive safety culture across
contractors and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
 Develop, implement, and maintain the Project HSE Plan, risk registers, method statements, and
Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
 Conduct site inspections, scaffold & excavation checks, lifting plan reviews, and permit-to-work
control (hot work, confined space, LOTO, working at height).
 Lead incident/near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action
tracking.
 Plan and deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and competency refreshers for employees and
subcontractors.
 Monitor critical controls for high-risk activities (crane/lifting, temporary works/formwork, traffic
management, electrical, silica dust, noise).
 Verify PPE selection and usage, equipment certifications, and operator licenses.
 Perform internal audits and coordinate external audits; follow up on findings to closure.
 Prepare statutory and internal reports (KPIs, dashboards, incident logs).
 Champion ISO 45001 (OHS), ISO 14001 (Environmental) practices and support environmental
controls (spill, waste, erosion/dust).
 Support emergency response planning and drills; maintain site medical, first-aid, and fire safety
readiness.
 Review contractor HSE submissions and participate in tender/pre-mobilization HSE
evaluations.


Qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree in Safety/Environmental/Industrial Engineering or Civil/Mechanical
Engineering with HSE specialization.
 3–7 years HSE experience in construction.
 Recognized HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, ISO 45001 Lead
Auditor) preferred.
 Strong knowledge of safety requirements and practical site controls.
 Proficient with MS Office; familiarity with HSE reporting tools/apps is a plus.
 Languages: Professional proficiency in English and French (both strongly preferred).
