Role Purpose
Lead site safety engineering for civil and building projects, ensuring compliance with Cameroonian law
and company standards. Drive risk reduction, incident prevention, and a proactive safety culture across
contractors and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain the Project HSE Plan, risk registers, method statements, and
Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Conduct site inspections, scaffold & excavation checks, lifting plan reviews, and permit-to-work
control (hot work, confined space, LOTO, working at height).
Lead incident/near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action
tracking.
Plan and deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and competency refreshers for employees and
subcontractors.
Monitor critical controls for high-risk activities (crane/lifting, temporary works/formwork, traffic
management, electrical, silica dust, noise).
Verify PPE selection and usage, equipment certifications, and operator licenses.
Perform internal audits and coordinate external audits; follow up on findings to closure.
Prepare statutory and internal reports (KPIs, dashboards, incident logs).
Champion ISO 45001 (OHS), ISO 14001 (Environmental) practices and support environmental
controls (spill, waste, erosion/dust).
Support emergency response planning and drills; maintain site medical, first-aid, and fire safety
readiness.
Review contractor HSE submissions and participate in tender/pre-mobilization HSE
evaluations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Safety/Environmental/Industrial Engineering or Civil/Mechanical
Engineering with HSE specialization.
3–7 years HSE experience in construction.
Recognized HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, ISO 45001 Lead
Auditor) preferred.
Strong knowledge of safety requirements and practical site controls.
Proficient with MS Office; familiarity with HSE reporting tools/apps is a plus.
Languages: Professional proficiency in English and French (both strongly preferred).
