INTRODUCTION

Medical humanitarian non-governmental organization (NGO) governed by Swiss law; Doctors of the World Switzerland (DoW-CH) works in the field to restore sustainable access to healthcare for excluded people. It has been present in Cameroon since 2013 and implements several projects, around three (03) main thematic axes: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Prevention and Management of Violence and Pediatric Palliative Care.

As part of the implementation of the third phase of our project “Strengthening the protection of vulnerable populations in the North West and West regions of Cameroon”, we are looking for 1 person with a high level of recognition and acceptance in their community to join our network of  community relay agents with the goal to contribute to raising awareness on GBV, detection and referral of victims as well as the follow-up of cases of violence in their community.  The area of intervention of the Community Relay Agent will be Bamenda II (Ntarinkon/End of Tar Longla street & Aziri)

1.     JOB DESCRIPTION:

Placed under the responsibility of the « Mental Health Supervisor » the main responsibilities/tasks of the Community Relay Agents will be as follows:

·       Carryout weekly door to door sensitization on Gender Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights within their communities.

·       Participate in activities organized within the framework of the project.

·       Collaborate with members of the Mobile Clinic team during community outreach exercises.

·       Identify and refer GBV survivors to the Integrated Support Unit of the Bamenda Regional Hospital or to other services.

·       Collect data and submit a monthly report to the Mental Health Supervisor.

·       Participate in meetings, trainings and supervisions.

2. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

2.1   EDUCATION

·       Minimum of Ordinary Level Certificate or equivalent is required.

2.2   PROFESSIONAL EXPÉRIENCE

·       At least 12 months’ experience as a Community Relay Agent or equivalent.

·       Experience working in the area of protection (child protection or Gender Based Violence) with vulnerable populations such as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and ethnic minorities.    

·       Work experience in an international NGO

·       Experience working with children and adolescents.

1.3   GENERAL AND SPECIFIC SKILLS

·       Be of good moral standards and probity

·       High level of recognition and acceptance

·       Excellent relational and influencing skills in multicultural contexts.

·       Good oral and written communication skills in English

·       Ability to speak one of the local languages (Pidgin…) would be an asset.

·       Committed to adhere to the values of Doctors of the World Switzerland, respect the code of conduct, ethics and humanitarian principles of the organization.

2.     CONSTITUTION OF THE APPLICATION FILE

·       An application letter addressed to the GBV Project Manager North West and West Regions.

·       An updated Curriculum Vitae (three pages maximum)

·       A copy of certificates

·       Proof of various previous professional experiences (work certificates, employment contract, certificate of end of contract, etc.)

·       Two reference persons, including at least one from the last position held (Name, First names, Function, E-mail address and Functional telephone).

NB: Certificate of non-conviction will be requested from successful candidates.
