Background:
Sucden is a privately owned soft commodity trading and sugar processing firm,
headquartered in Paris, France. Its main activities are in the sugar, cocoa, coffee, and
ethanol sectors, with additional business interests in international shipping and
financial services. In Cameroon, Sucden adopts a partnership approach with exporters
to source both conventional and certified cocoa on behalf of specific chocolate
manufacturers.
Role Objectives:
Sucden currently has a dedicated in-country team managing sustainability programs
and is seeking Sustainable Cocoa Field Officers to support the effective and efficient
implementation of EUDR and certification standards across its supply chain in
Cameroon. These Field Officers are expected to works closely with the sustainability
teams of our partners in their respective bases to support their efforts towards the
implementation sustainability programs and ensure that such implementations are
conducted in accordance to Sucden’s and our clients’ standards. They shall ensure
monitoring of program activities and reports directly to the Sustainability Manager in
Cameroon.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Implementation of EUDR requirements
• Support the implementation of EUDR and traceability activities by enforcing
corrective actions, assisting data collection agents, resolving tool-related
issues, and ensuring compliance with traceability procedures at partner
warehouses. Provide coaching to farmers within the Sucden supply chain to
ensure they understand and meet EUDR requirements.
• Coordinates field sensitization and community consultation sessions with
partners to raise farmer awareness on human rights, national legislation, and
emerging issues, while promoting best practices and addressing
implementation gaps.
2. Monitoring of sustainability program
• Conduct Farm inspections to assess compliance with agrochemical use,
deforestation, labor practices.
• Ensure the monitoring and implementation of prevention and mitigation
activities related to child labor and forced labor in the intervention areas, in
collaboration with local
partners.
• Ensure the monitoring of supplier’s certification or other program activities
with partners throughout their supply chain for compliance purposes.
• Coordinate field sensitization meetings in collaboration with Sucden supplier
teams to enable farmers adopt good agricultural and environmental practices
aimed at fighting deforestation and conserving natural ecosystems.
• Inform, train and guide the sustainability teams of Sucden partners on
updates to regulatory requirements and standards as advised.
• Provide support in preparing for field visits from management, clients and
other stakeholders in their assigned communities.
3. Reporting
• Prepare weekly reports of traceability system in the field
• Prepare weekly field reports to update the Sustainability Manager on the
outcomes of all field visits, questions asked, and any issues experienced.
Skills and Expertise:
• An HND or a Bachelor degree in Agricultural related studies from a recognized
institution, preferably in agronomy. Other relevant studies include natural
resource management, environmental science/management, or similar fields.
• At least two years of proven experience in extension services or community-based
work related to cocoa sustainability, farm management, and/or agroforestry.
• Training, coaching, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both with internal and
external stakeholders. Enjoys and excels in team collaboration.
• Capacity and willingness to work with farmers in cocoa-producing(rural)
communities.
• Excellent command of French and or English.
• Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
• Must be able to ride a motorcycle. A drivers licensed category A or B is an
added advantage.

Contract Duration: The contract will have an initial duration of six (06) months,
renewable upon satisfactory performance.
