Actions Against Hunger is an International Non Governmental Organization (NGO), apolitical, non
denominational and non-profit. For our operations in Cameroon, we are looking for:
MHPSS AND PROTECTION SENIOR OFFICER M/F
Base: Kumba (south west region)
Number of positions : 1
Contract duration: Until 31 April 2026
Start date: 01/5/2025
Supervised by: Multisectoral Program Manager or MHPSS program Manager
Technical Supervisor: MHCP Head of Department
Location : Kumba South-West Region
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
Mission 1: Supervise psychosocial care activities
Activities:
– Ensure the implementation of mental health activities and care practices
– Ensure the establishment of psychological follow-ups for beneficiaries
– Guarantee the follow-up of the defined objectives
– Guarantee a gender-sensitive approach in the implementation of activities
– Observe activities in the field to determine the needs of the team and offer continuous training with
the support of the PM
– Organize and facilitate team meetings to examine each situation
– Be responsible for the proper management of stocks and logistical aspects related to activities.
Mission 2: Supervise the training activities of local partners
Activities:
– Ensure the implementation of capacity building activities
– Identify key people in the community and educate them
– Participate in the development of educational frameworks adapted to the profile of participants;
– Provide training according to the AAH trainer protocol. Provide a report of the training as well as the
follow-up of the people trained
– Evaluate participants’ knowledge before and after the sessions
– Train health staff and support them in assessing the needs of beneficiaries to determine the
problems encountered, then identify with team members those who should be referred for follow-up,
either individually or in groups;
– Be responsible for the proper management of stocks and logistical aspects related to training
activities.
Mission 3: Supervise the project team and coordinate activities
Activities
– Make the weekly schedule and coordinate the tasks of each team member;
– Supervise and train each member of the team on the different intervention sites.2
Mission 4: Support the implementation of the referral system
Activities
– Be able to assist psychosocial workers to identify the limits of his intervention and the needs of
specialized care
– Know the specialized structures, their support methods and referral mechanisms
– To be able to refer beneficiaries in distress to partners according to protocols
– Being able to maintain and support relationships with partners
– Identify the obstacles and suggest improvements
Mission 5: Compile data and prepare program activity reports
Activities
– Contribute to the collection and check the accuracy of statistical data by updating the supervision
team’s databases;
– Ensure the proper use and understanding of monitoring tools by all TPS;
– Analyze the information collected and participate in program evaluation;
– Prepare quantitative and narrative monthly APRs on request and in the absence of the Program
Manager;
– Evaluate the program’s effectiveness and highlight its progress and objectives;
– Write the technical part of the weekly reports and forward them to the Program Manager.
Mission 6: Ensure the protection of project beneficiaries
Activities
– Participate in MHPSS meetings and make proposals for improving overall care.
– Contribute to sensitize partners to the development of respectful and benevolent behavior
DIPLOMAS/STUDIES/EXPERIENCE :
– Master’s degree in clinical psychology, Psychopathology, Clinical counselling, or any related
equivalent degree in Social, and Human sciences with at least 02 years of clinical experience in the
field of psychosocial support in a similar position
– Ideally in-depth knowledge of AAH’s MHPSS intervention framework
REQUIRED SKILLS :
– Sense of confidentiality
– Good knowledge of psychological care and individual and group psychosocial support, adults and
children
– Good knowledge of psycho-trauma care
– Good knowledge of child development
– Matrise in using some basic computer software like Word, PowerPoint, Excel
– Ability to design, implement and facilitate training for the team and partners on SMPS themes
– Experience in team management and management
– Experience in data collection / reporting
– Communication, listening and observation skills
– Good team spirit – Ability to work in a team
– Autonomy – Creativity – Flexibility –
– Good knowledge of the area and customs
– Knowledge of the local languages of the work area (pidgin).
