HSE Manager

We are recruiting on behalf of our client in the Hydro electrical engineering sector for the position of HSE Manager.

The HSE Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures for the 400KV Substation project. He/She will ensure full compliance with international standards, client requirements, and local regulations, while fostering a strong culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the project site.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement HSE plans, policies, and procedures aligned with project requirements.
Ensure compliance with international HSE standards, local laws, and client contractual obligations.
Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and site inspections.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
Organize safety training and awareness programs for employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
Maintain proper documentation and records for audits and client reporting.
Lead HSE meetings and toolbox talks with site staff and contractors.
Liaise with project management, client representatives, and local authorities on HSE matters.

Monitor environmental impact and ensure proper waste management practices.

Qualifications & Experience

Min Bachelor’s degree in HSE, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
Min 10 years of proven HSE experience, with at least 5 years in power transmission or substation projects (400KV preferre d).
Strong knowledge of international HSE standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, OHSAS).
Experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects in Africa or similar environments is an asset.
Excellent leadership, communication, and reporting skills.
Fluency in English required; French is a strong advantage.
