FUNCTION AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Management and implementation of the project activities, from substantive, administrative and financial points of view, applying strategic planning of project activities.
Program Implementation and Capacity Development
- Ensure that an effective and adequate response is given to all cases of child protection and gender-based violence identified by the project team.
- Identify and reinforce existing support mechanisms and work closely with local counterparts to ensure community and cultural appropriateness of activities.
- Strengthen case management and referral systems
- Work with teams and communities to develop appropriate prevention and awareness-raising/behavior change strategies
- Supervise the work of the project teams in Bamenda, Mbouda, Santa and Bafoussam.
- Make frequent trips to the project areas to monitor project activities, identify opportunities and constraints and make any necessary adjustments, including capacity building;
Coordination
- Coordinate with local and international NGOs, UN agencies and other stakeholders to ensure holistic support for survivors, including participation in strengthening GBV SOPs and referral pathways
- Ensure the implementation of all social project activities within deadlines and standards required by MdM-CH procedures (protection of children, GBV, education and strengthening of the economic power of victims of GBV and case management);
- Actively participate in protection/GBV working groups and contribute to interagency initiatives as well as promoting MdM-CH as a leader agency in GBV
- Ensure maximum visibility of MdM-CH and relevant donors
Monitoring, Reporting and representing
- Ensure accurate data collection of field activities.
- Participate in writing financial reports of the project.
- Write monthly/quarterly/semester/annual narrative reports.
- Represent MdM-CH in all interactions with the public services and partners.
Human Resources Management
- Assist in the selection, training and support of qualified program staff
- Develop support strategies for staff and introduce principles of self-care
- Ensure good coaching for strengthening the capacities of staffs;
- Ensure good management of the project premises and assets.
Financial Management
- Review work, spending and procurement plans in line with MdM-CH’s financial pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with donor financial regulations.
- Validating field expenses before transmission
PROFILE:
Academic qualifications:
- GCE A levels with at least 4 years of university training in +social and/or legal sciences.
- Additional training in project management will be an asset.
Work experience:
- At least two (2) years’ experience of working as a GBV Project Manager is required.
- Experience of working in the North West or South West is required;
- Previous experience of working in an international NGO will be of addedadvantage.
Skills required for the position:
- Mastery of GBV: the context and issues at the national level and in the project areas.
- Good knowledge of the project cycle and results-based management.
- Capacity to appreciate the cultural and social context. Identify and understand norms, customs and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate difficulties and be proactive.
- Promoting cooperation and a good working atmosphere within the team
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and French (full bilingualism is required)
- Sense of rigour in work
