The Opportunity

This position is responsible for (Sexual) Gender Based Violence ((S) GBV) and Child protection in Emergency (CPIE) activities effective implementation in the field in accordance of Plan International’s emergency Gender Based Violence response in the Far North Region of Cameroon. As Protection (CPIE & GBV) Officer you will provide effective capacities and technical guidance in management including the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Gender Based Violence and CPIE related activities at the field levels. You will ensure, closely with the Project Manager or other Emergency Response Team members, all Sexual and Gender Based Violence and CPIE activities in the IDPs sites, and in host communities at the level of division in charge (Mayo Tsanaga, Mayo Sava or Logon & Chari). As (S)GBV and CPIE Officer also, you will work directly with Project Animators, Animators of Women Cohesion Spaces and Child Friendly Space, the team of Mobile Units, the GBV committee and all Community workers to ensure the good implementation of (S)GBV and CPIE activities planned. You will participate in the technical co-ordination of Mobile Units Project, support and advocacy with the local specific protection group and sub-workings group child protection and gender-based violence and other stakeholders and technical agencies relevant to the sector to ensure effective, proportioned and quality response of Plan. You will be based at the area of Maroua Program Influency and Implementation specifically at Maroua and Kousseri. As (S)GBV and CPIE Officer, you will be in communication with the project Coordinator, Child Protection Sector Lead to support and provide hand holding support to understand the model and to respond to queries and the Program Lead – Child Protection in Emergencies to report, seek approvals, sharing views to strengthen the program areas and to ensure continued support for the program.
 
The Individual
As a GBV and CPIE Project Officer, you will need to have a Bachelor’s degree in social work, social sciences, psychology or a related field, solid experience of GBV and child protection in humanitarian or refugee contexts, particularly with adolescents and young adults. You must also have excellent behavioral and social skills, fluent communication in French and English (written and oral), computer and research skills, and local languages spoken in Mayo-Sava, Mayo-Tsanaga and Logone-et-Chari would be an asset.
