- INTRODUCTION
Founded in 1993, Médecins du Monde-Switzerland (MdM-CH) is a humanitarian non-governmental organization working in Switzerland and internationally to establish sustainable access to healthcare for excluded populations. MdM-CH has been present in Cameroon since 2013, and its main aim is to improve the living conditions of vulnerable populations.
In the North-West region, MdM Switzerland benefits from the experience gained from the implementation of 03 projects geared at promoting SRHR and strengthening the COVID-19 response between 2021 and 2023, as well as the good practices gained from 2 consecutive phases of a protection and education programs implemented since 2018 of which the phase 3 is currently underway.
As part of the implementation of programs to reduce maternal, neonatal and infant mortality, MdM-Switzerland’s Cameroon mission is looking for 02 district supervisors to oversee project activities in 3 health districts of Mezam Division: Bamenda II, Bamenda III and Tubah Health Districts.
- JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL DESCIPRTION
Reporting to the General Coordinator and under the direct hierarchical supervision of the SRHR North West Project Manager, the employee will be responsible for carrying out community-based activities as part of the project titled « Improving access to maternal and child healthcare in rural and semi-urban areas of Mezam Division, North West Region of Cameroon », whose aim is to improve the health and well-being of the populations of the host communities and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Bamenda II, Bamenda III and Tubah Health Districts by reducing maternal, neonatal and infant morbidity and mortality. Also, the SRHR North West Project Supervisors will support stakeholders in implementing community activities. He/she will directly supervise the networks of community relay agents, health clubs and dialogue structures in the target health areas, and will work closely with the project’s administrative, financial and logistical staff.
Specifically, the main tasks of the Project Supervisors will be:
Objective 1: Planning and coordination of project activities
Objective 2: Management of the project team, collaboration with partners and representing MdM-CH
Objective 3: Project monitoring and follow-up
· REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Education
– Training in General Medicine or Nursing/Midwifery with master on health sciences
– Additional training in public health, sexual and reproductive health /or project management would be of added advantage.
2. Professional expérience
Ø Required
– At least 06 months in a similar position in a local or international organization.
– At least 12 months’ experience of implementing community activities in multiple health areas or a health district.
– Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams in a crisis context.
– Experience in community health in the North West region.
Ø Asset
– Clinical experience in gynecology and/or pediatrics.
– Experience of working in the field of protection of vulnerable populations such as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and ethnic minorities.
– Experience in communication for change.
3. General and specific skills
– Good knowledge of the structure and operation of Cameroon’s healthcare system.
– Good writing skills.
– Project/program management based on the Results-Based Management (RBM) approach.
– Ability to establish and foster respectful, collaborative working relationships within the team, the organization and with the various partners: dialogue structures, decentralized technical sector departments, target community leaders, etc.
– Good oral and written communication skills in English; Frenc will be an asset.
– Excellent negotiation skills in multicultural contexts
– Fluency in the use of Office Pack tools (Word, Excel, Power point, Excel, Publisher etc.).
– Ability to express oneself in one of the local languages (Bambili, Mankon, Nkwen and Pidgin) would be an asset.
– Good knowledge of adolescent family planning.
– Autonomy while respecting the procedures and rules of life and safety of the mission.
– Committed, you adhere to MdM’s values and respect the organization’s code of conduct, ethics and humanitarian principles. You are motivated by its associative model.
