Role Purpose
Lead site safety engineering for civil and building projects, ensuring compliance with Cameroonian law
and company standards. Drive risk reduction, incident prevention, and a proactive safety culture across
contractors and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
\uf0b7 Develop, implement, and maintain the Project HSE Plan, risk registers, method statements, and
Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
\uf0b7 Conduct site inspections, scaffold & excavation checks, lifting plan reviews, and permit-to-work
control (hot work, confined space, LOTO, working at height).
\uf0b7 Lead incident\/near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective\/preventive action
tracking.
\uf0b7 Plan and deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and competency refreshers for employees and
subcontractors.
\uf0b7 Monitor critical controls for high-risk activities (crane\/lifting, temporary works\/formwork, traffic
management, electrical, silica dust, noise).
\uf0b7 Verify PPE selection and usage, equipment certifications, and operator licenses.
\uf0b7 Perform internal audits and coordinate external audits; follow up on findings to closure.
\uf0b7 Prepare statutory and internal reports (KPIs, dashboards, incident logs).
\uf0b7 Champion ISO 45001 (OHS), ISO 14001 (Environmental) practices and support environmental
controls (spill, waste, erosion\/dust).
\uf0b7 Support emergency response planning and drills; maintain site medical, first-aid, and fire safety
readiness.
\uf0b7 Review contractor HSE submissions and participate in tender\/pre-mobilization HSE
evaluations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Qualifications
\uf0b7 Bachelor\u2019s degree in Safety\/Environmental\/Industrial Engineering or Civil\/Mechanical
Engineering with HSE specialization.
\uf0b7 3\u20137 years HSE experience in construction.
\uf0b7 Recognized HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, ISO 45001 Lead
Auditor) preferred.
\uf0b7 Strong knowledge of safety requirements and practical site controls.
\uf0b7 Proficient with MS Office; familiarity with HSE reporting tools\/apps is a plus.
\uf0b7 Languages: Professional proficiency in English and French (both strongly preferred).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
