For our Jengi TNS Programme based in Mambele, we are looking for a dynamic and commited Health Ecology Monitoring Assistant to support WWF Jengi TNS Programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Reports to: Technical Adviser Jengi-TNS<br>Location: Mambele, Boumba and Ngoko Department, Eastern Region, Cameroon<br>Duration: One year renewable<br><strong>Mission of the Department<\/strong><br>To ensure the development and implementation of the Jengi-TNS Programme to the highest standards, in line with the WWF Cameroon Conservation Strategy. The mission is to ensure the overall health of<br>ecosystems, wildlife populations, and local communities. WWF has been monitoring large mammals at the forest clearings and of recent there is an influx of tourists into the national park to view African forest elephants, western lowland gorillas, Bongos and African gray parrots in the forest clearings. This is achieved through the collection, analysis, and reporting of health-related data to inform decision-making and guide conservation efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Major Duties and Responsibilities<br>\u2022 Assist with the implementation and maintenance of health monitoring protocols and systems to<br>ensure the timely detection of potential health threats to wildlife and ecosystems.<br>\u2022 Collect, analyze, and interpret data on wildlife health, habitat quality, and environmental conditions<br>in collaboration with researchers and other team members.<br>\u2022 Support the development and implementation of strategies to mitigate disease transmission between<br>wildlife, livestock, and human populations.<br>\u2022 Participate in fieldwork activities, including wildlife health assessments, sample collection, and data<br>recording.<br>\u2022 Collaborate with conservation staff, volunteers, and community members to promote awareness of<br>wildlife health issues and best practices for monitoring and prevention.<br>\u2022 Contribute to the preparation of reports, publications, and communication materials to share findings and raise awareness about conservation issues.<br>\u2022 Provide technical support and guidance to field staff, volunteers, and community members on wildlife<br>health monitoring techniques and best practices.<br>\u2022 Assist in the development of health-related indicators and monitoring plans for conservation projects<br>and initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Profile<br>Required qualifications:<br>\u2022 Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in ecology, wildlife biology, environmental science, or a related fiel<br>\u2022 Minimum of 02 years professional experience in one or more of the following domains: wildlife behavior and health monitoring, ecological monitoring, field patrols, community sensitization<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Required skills and competencies<br>\u2022 \u2060Courage encountering wildlife in its natural habitat;<br>\u2022 Strong knowledge of wildlife health issues and monitoring techniques.<br>\u2022 Proficiency in data collection, management, and analysis, including experience with relevant software<br>and tools.<br>\u2022 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to<br>diverse audiences.<br>\u2022 Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.<br>\u2022 Experience in fieldwork and a willingness to work in remote locations and challenging conditions.<br>\u2022 Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.<br>\u2022 Computer literate, demonstrated knowledge of data collection tools the use of GPS and GIS software,<br>Cybertracker\/SMART and related tools (A Good knowledge of camera trapping, wildlife observation<br>and photo analysis is an added advantage);<br>\u2022 Proven skills in statistics and data analysis (Excel, other relevant software).<br>Values and Behaviors<br>\u2022 Identifies and aligns with the core values of the WWF organization: Courage, Collaboration, Respect<br>&amp; Integrity.<br>\u2022 Demonstrates WWF behaviors in way of working: Strive for Impact, Listen Deeply, Collaborate<br>Openly, Innovate Fearlessly.<br>Working Relationships<br>Internal: Works closely with Junior biologist, field Ecological monitoring Intern\/Volunteer, as well as<br>national biomonitoring teams in order to collect information and supervise field activities.<br>External: The position requires close collaboration with local communities and the conservation service.<br>Qualified candidates from residents of Lobeke (Moloundou, Salapoumb\u00e9, Mambel\u00e9\u2026) are strongly<br>encouraged to apply.This job description covers the main tasks and conveys the spirit of the sort of tasks that are anticipated proactively from staff.
