Position: BACK-UP Medical Provider<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supervisor: Country Director<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Position Summary:<\/strong> The United States Peace Corps seeks a Medical Doctor or Nurse Practitioner to serve as a contracted a backup Peace Corps Medical Officer (PCMO) based in Yaounde. The back-up Medical Provider will deliver clinical care for Peace Corps <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteers and Trainees in Cameroon in the absence of a Peace Corps Medical Officer (PCMO) or assist the PCMO during busy <\/p>\n\n\n\n

times. The number of days required for this role may vary and may be for 30 non-consecutive days during the year subject to the availability of funds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location: Yaounde, Cameroon <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The back-up medical provider will deliver direct patient care, referrals to outside medical consultants or facilities such <\/p>\n\n\n\n

as hospital or emergency department, depending on the specific in-country arrangements, and assist with administrative <\/p>\n\n\n\n

duties and health education when indicated. The back-up medical provider will be available around-the-clock by <\/p>\n\n\n\n

telephone or be present in the Peace Corps office health unit. He\/she may also be required to provide consultative or <\/p>\n\n\n\n

prescriptive services to the Peace Corps PCMOs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Backup Peace Corps Medical Providers will submit written documentation that describes consultations with Peace <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corps Trainees or Volunteers, and care and treatment prescribed and provided. Diagnoses must be provided to the <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peace Corps Health Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I. Professional qualifications <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. Physician: The back up PCMO shall have a valid, current, active license to practice as a Physician in one of the <\/p>\n\n\n\n

50 United States, or country where license was obtained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It shall be the responsibility of the backup PCMO-Physician to maintain a current valid license to practice medicine <\/p>\n\n\n\n

in one of the 50 United States, or country where license was obtained, at all times during the performance period of <\/p>\n\n\n\n

this contract while serving as a backup PCMO in any country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Graduate of accredited school. MDs must be a graduate of a school listed in this link, Foundation for Advancement of <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Current license to practice <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Relevant clinical experience in primary care after medical school<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Program management, administrative experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Hardworking, reliable and diligent with good inter-personal skills<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Willing to travel to sites in Cameroon<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Ability to work with minimal supervision<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Must be able to obtain an American visa<\/p>\n\n\n\n

observed the applicant in a clinical setting). Letters must be written recently with date written at the top or bottom of the letter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Letters must be in English. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photocopy of Academic diplomas. If the candidate is an MD, he or she must be a graduate of a medical school listed on the <\/p>\n\n\n\n

necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photocopy of professional licenses. If the license does not have an expiration date, written confirmation must be submitted directly <\/p>\n\n\n\n

from the issuing authority. Please note, some countries do not require an actual license; rather, the medical diploma is the license <\/p>\n\n\n\n

to practice. If this is the case, the applicant must submit written confirmation issued directly from the professional medical board, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ministry of Health or other appropriate regulatory authority, establishing that the candidate is properly credentialed for medical practice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A translated copy of the diploma in English is required. Official translation is not necessary.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
