Title: Biomonitoring Assistant, Djoum – Dja Landscape

Reports to: Biomonitoring Officer, Djoum

Location: Djoum, Cameroon
Job Summary<\/strong>
The Biomonitoring Assistant will assist in the implementation of biomonitoring programs in the
south sector of Dja Faunal Reserve (DFR) by monitoring wildlife inside south sector of DFR and
peripheral zones of the Southern part of DFR. The jobholder will have experience in fieldwork, data
management, and a strong interest in environmental conservation.
The position reports to Biomonitoring Officer, Djoum. However, depending on priorities and certain
service requirements, AWF may transfer the incumbent to any other location where it operates in
Cameroon.
Responsibilities<\/strong>
\u2022 Assist in the implementation and coordination of biomonitoring programs in the field within
the south sector of DFR.
\u2022 Conduct fieldwork to collect ecological data and related information on wildlife while
respecting designed protocols.
\u2022 Process and analyze wildlife data by using software programs such as Cyber tracker, SMART,
Camera traps and ArcGIS.
\u2022 Provide support to rangers training programs as scheduled in the south sector of DFR.
\u2022 Assist in the deployment of anti-poaching strategic and field intervention to fight against
poaching through team preparing and planning, debriefing, data downloading and
treatment and reporting.
\u2022 Maintain accurate records of data and samples collected in the field.
\u2022 Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documents related to
biomonitoring programs in the south sector of DFR.
\u2022 Assist with project management tasks such as scheduling, budget tracking, and
communication with stakeholders of the south sector of DFR.
\u2022 Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations during fieldwork and other
activities conducted in the south sector of DFR.
\u2022 Stay current with scientific literature and research trends in biomonitoring and
environmental science.
\u2022 Provide any other support to Djoum Biomonitoring Officer as when possible.2
Requirements and skills<\/strong>
\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in environmental science, Biology, Ecology, Forestry, Botany, Zoology,
Wildlife Management or related field of study.
\u2022 At least 2 years\u2019 experience in fieldwork and data collection (mastery of data collection tools,
Compass, Android devices and GPS).
\u2022 Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
\u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software programs such as Cyber tracker, SMART,
Camera trapping, and QGIS for data management and analysis.
\u2022 Strong written and verbal communication skills both in French & English.
\u2022 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
\u2022 Willingness to travel and work in remote locations.
\u2022 Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
