WWF Network has moved to the development and the<br>implementation of 9 Practices with Global Goals to be achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For our Country Office in Cameroon, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Landscape Advisor.<br>Reports to: Programme Manager<br>Location: Buea<br>Duration: Two (02) years<br>The mission of the department<br>In pursuit of her vision of a future with healthy ecosystems and thriving biodiversity supporting people<br>and driving sustainable development in Cameroon, WWF Cameroon (WWF CCO) went into partnership<br>with the Programme for the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources \u2013 South West Region<br>(PSMNR-SWR). The partnership is currently in its fifth phase, covering the period 15 September 2023 to December 2025. The goal of the Programme is to contribute towards the preservation of high-value<br>ecosystems in South-West Region, thereby contributing to improved livelihoods of the surrounding<br>communities in a sustainable manner. The purpose is sustainable forest and wildlife management by<br>affected stakeholders for their benefit, with special emphasis on the poorer segments of the local<br>populations. Broadly, PSMNR-SWR Phase V has been set up to achieve the following:<br>\uf0b7 Consolidate and build on the achievements and lessons from the collaborative management of<br>protected areas (PA) initiated in the previous phases.<br>\uf0b7 Manage the UNESCO MAB transboundary biosphere reserves in the Korup-Oban and TakamandaOkwango areas.<br>\uf0b7 Set up sustainable financing mechanisms, with accent on locally negotiated land-use plans along<br>the wildlife corridors and PA peripheral zones serving as reference for land-based Payment for<br>Ecosystem Services.<br>Major Functions<br>\uf0b7 Support WWF Coastal Forests Program Manager in conceptualization, planning, implementation,<br>reporting and monitoring of WWF interventions in the framework of PSMNR;<br>The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Cameroon is looking for a Landscape Advisor\uf0b7 Lead the consolidation and capitalization of the achievements and lessons of the collaborative PA<br>management approach;<br>\uf0b7 Pro-actively support the design and implementation of the landscape approach and management<br>of the Korup-Oban Transboundary Biosphere Reserve, and the set-up of land-based Payment for<br>Ecosystem Services;<br>\uf0b7 In close cooperation with the WWF CCO Coastal Forests Program (CFP) Manager, work with<br>Regional authorities, conservation partners and projects in the SWR to maintain the biodiversity of<br>the Region and contribute to poverty alleviation;<br>\uf0b7 Support the Korup-Ndongere ToU and oversee the works of the Mount Cameroon, BakossiBanyang-Mbo, and Korup-Ndongere Landscape Officers, and<br>\uf0b7 Advise the WWF Coastal Forests Program Manager on pertinent issues in the South West Region<br>and provide essential input for the PSMNR supervision, review and evaluation.<br>Major Duties and Responsibilities:<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to the management of larger conservation areas;<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to the mitigation of land-use conflict around PAs;<br>\uf0b7 Support the participatory corridor management of important wildlife corridors;<br>\uf0b7 Support integrated management of the PA network and transboundary collaboration;<br>\uf0b7 Support the institutionalization of the collaborative PA management approach and its integration<br>into legal planning processes (PA management plans, Council Development Plans, Land-use Plans\/;<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to capacity building of stakeholders in the co-management process;<br>\uf0b7 Support the implementation of cluster specific collaborative management activities;<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to the conservation education approach of PSMNR<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to the hunter engagement in the implementation of targeted intervention for the<br>benefit of communities and groups who have a strong impact on the PAs (output 3.5);<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to the cooperative\/enterprise development for farm and forest producers;<br>\uf0b7 Support the sustainable management of NTFPs by local communities inside PAs;<br>\uf0b7 Support the identification and mitigation of human wildlife conflicts;<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to PA staff capacity building;<br>\uf0b7 Develop key research projects to address priority issues for key wildlife and habitat conservation;<br>\uf0b7 Support the elaboration\/revision of PA and landscape management plans;<br>\uf0b7 Support the development of SFM for PAs and landscape management;<br>\uf0b7 Advocate for and set-up a complaint mechanism to address community wide concerns within the<br>PSMNR;<br>\uf0b7 Advocate for and conduct risk\/conflict analysis around vulnerable communities and those of<br>power, in particular eco-guards and implement mitigation measures within the PSMNR;<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to the joint use and maintenance of the WWF and PSMNR-SWR Geographical<br>Information System (GIS);<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to the WWF and PSMNR communication by providing articles for publication;<br>\uf0b7 Develop monthly, semester and annual work plans and budgets for approval by the PSMNR-SWR;<br>\uf0b7 Monitor and report at agreed frequencies and formats the activities in the approved work plans;<br>\uf0b7 Prepare required technical progress reports, using standard WWF reporting format;<br>\uf0b7 Verify requests for funds to facilitate disbursements;<br>\uf0b7 Develop ToRs for service providers or consultants or Local Support Organizations (LSO) to assist<br>with implementation of approved activities, and prepare requisitions for the purchase of PSMNR<br>equipment as agreed upon in work plans and budgets.Profile:<br>Required Qualifications:<br>\uf0b7 Minimum of Bachelor\u2019s degree or in one or more of the following domains: forestry and wildlife,<br>natural resource management, environment, rural geography, or any related specialization;<br>\uf0b7 Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the areas of wildlife and protected area<br>management or sustainable management of natural resources.<br>Required Skills and Competencies:<br>\uf0b7 Strong technical skills in wildlife and protected areas management;<br>\uf0b7 Strong bio\/socioeconomic monitoring skills;<br>\uf0b7 Good overview of legal and institutional framework in the area of forest and wildlife resources<br>management in Cameroon;<br>\uf0b7 Strong technical, communication and organizational skills;<br>\uf0b7 Ability to work and interact with people of different backgrounds;<br>\uf0b7 Good team member and familiarity with the functioning of local and international organizations;<br>\uf0b7 Computer Program Manager, the Landscape Management<br>Coordinator, the country team and relevant WWF network staff.<br>\uf0b7 External<br>Within the PSMNR-SWR set-up, the Landscape Advisor is the direct counterpart of the Heads of the<br>Collaborative Management and TOU Management Units at the regional level.
