Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Security Adviser (SA) or the Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO), the Field Security Associate (FSA) assists in the implementation of security operations and all matters relating to the management of safety and security for UN personnel in the country or in the region of assignment.
Duties and Responsibilities

1. Collection, updating, and communication of security information and reporting and management of security incidents:
\u2022 Establish and maintain contacts with government security agencies and other relevant actors.
\u2022 Continuously assess the security situation at the duty station.
\u2022 Gather essential information for in-depth analysis.
\u2022 Regularly communicate security information to UN agency officials.
\u2022 Coordinate activities with UN agency security focal points.
\u2022 Report and document security incidents affecting UN personnel, offices, and assets.
\u2022 Assist in preparing detailed reports on security incidents.
\u2022 Coordinate appropriate response measures during security incidents.
\u2022 Contribute to incident analysis for improving security measures.
\u2022 Establish follow-up mechanisms to ensure incident resolution.
2. Security plan management and personnel lists updates and monitoring and evaluation of compliance with security standards:
\u2022 Participate in the development, implementation, and updating of the security plan.
\u2022 Liaise with agency officials to collect and update personnel lists.
\u2022 Support staff training on security procedures.
\u2022 Coordinate necessary actions during the implementation of the security plan.
\u2022 Conduct regular assessments to ensure compliance with security standards.
\u2022 Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with Minimum Security Standards listed in the country\/area SRM and RSM
\u2022 Identify security gaps and propose corrective measures.
\u2022 Cooperate with internal teams to enhance security and risk prevention.
3- Security assessment and advisory:
\u2022 Conduct comprehensive security assessments of workplaces and staff residences.
\u2022 Provide recommendations to enhance existing security measures.
\u2022 Monitor local security trends and threats.
\u2022 Update security protocols based on evolving situations.
\u2022 Cooperate with UN agencies and local authorities to ensure optimal security.

Education:
– Secondary Education is required

Experience:
\u202206 years (with secondary education) or 03 years (with bachelor\u2019s degree) of professional experience in security, preferably in the military or police context or related field of work.
\u2022Knowledge of Microsoft software (excel, Word,) Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
\u2022Fluency in French and working knowledge of English
\u2022Good Knowledge of Cameroonian Security Environment: Familiarity with the specific security dynamics, risks, and challenges present in Cameroon. Understanding the local context, including political, social, and cultural factors, is crucial for effective security management will be an asset
\u2022Knowledge of HF and VHF Radio Operation: Proficiency in operating HF and VHF radio communication systems commonly used in Cameroon. This knowledge facilitates effective communication in remote or challenging environments will be an asset.
\u2022Good Experience in Diplomatic Security and Protection or Previous experience or familiarity with diplomatic security protocols and procedures will be an asset
\u2022Background in defense and security service is an advantage
\u2022Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable.
