Together, we seek<br>to protect and restore natural habitats, stop the mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce<br>and consume sustainably.<br>For our Country Programme Office in Cameroon, we are looking for a Technical Advisor (TA) to contribute<br>to the goal of its Jengi TNS Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Context<br>In 1995, Government declared the area that is now the Lob\u00e9k\u00e9 National Park in South-East Cameroon as an<br>\u00ab\u00a0essential zone of protection.\u00a0\u00bb It became part of the South East Technical Operational Unit (UTO \/ SE), It was<br>integrated into the Tri-National Sangha (TNS) landscape following the signature of the transboundary<br>cooperation agreement on December 7, 2000 by the Governments of the Republic of Cameroon, the Central<br>African Republic and the Republic of Congo. In 2001, Government classified the ZEP as the Lob\u00e9k\u00e9 National<br>Park (LNP). WWF has maintained effective presence in the area since 1995, when it created the Jengi<br>Southeast Forest Programme. Eventually the Program evolved into the present Jengi Tri-Nationale de la<br>Sangha (TNS) Program that supports the LNP and its peripheral zone in wildlife conservation, contributing to<br>the well-being of local populations and sustainable management of natural resources through a landscape<br>approach in partnership with the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, the Fondation pour le Tri-national de la<br>Sangha (FTNS) and others. FTNS supports the LNP and its peripheral zone through the following annual work<br>programs:<br>\uf0b7 Program 1: Protection<br>\uf0b7 Program 2: Participatory management and sustainable development<br>\uf0b7 Program 3: Research, ecological and socioeconomic monitoring<br>\uf0b7 Program 4: Tourism, marketing and communication<br>\uf0b7 Program 5: Administration and Infrastructural Development<br>\uf0b7 Program 6: Transboundary cooperation<br>\uf0b7 Program 7: One Health<br>\uf0b7 Program 8: Administration, monitoring and evaluation<br>The TA will lead delivery in Programs 1 and 3, and support the achievement of the overall mission of the<br>Jengi Tri-Nationale de la Sangha (TNS) Program as needed. Consistent WWF Cameroon\u2019s vision of a future<br>with healthy ecosystems and thriving biodiversity supporting people and driving sustainable development in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cameroon, the Jengi Tri-Nationale de la Sangha (TNS) Program has as its mission to stop biodiversity decline,<br>reverse the negative trend and contribute to the improvement in the living conditions of the local<br>communities and indigenous people (Baka).<br>The Technical Advisor will lead delivery in Programs 2 and 4 and support the achievement of the overall<br>mission of the Jengi Tri-Nationale de la Sangha (TNS) Program as needed. Consistent WWF Cameroon vision<br>of a future with healthy ecosystems and thriving biodiversity supporting people and driving sustainable<br>development in Cameroon. The Jengi Tri-Nationale de la Sangha (TNS) Program has as its mission to stop<br>biodiversity decline, reverse the negative trend and contribute to the improvement in the living conditions<br>of the local communities and indigenous peoples (Baka).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Location: Mambele, Cameroon<br>Duration One-year (1 year) renewable<br>Major functions:<br>The Technical Advisor will support the Programme Manager in the following areas:<br>\uf0b7 Conceptualization, planning, implementation, reporting and monitoring of WWF interventions;<br>\uf0b7 Consolidation and capitalization of the achievements and lessons of the PA co-management<br>approach;<br>\uf0b7 Proactively support the design and implementation of the landscape approach to ensure that the<br>TNS landscape maintains its outstanding natural values for the world heritage site, and contributes<br>to poverty alleviation through land-based Payment of Ecosystem Services and other forest-based<br>livelihood initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Major Duties and Responsibilities:<br>\uf0b7<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lead delivery to the highest possible standard of all the outputs of the FTNS-supported Programs 1<br>and 3<br>\uf0b7 Ensure the project compliance with technical and financial reporting and monitoring\/evaluation<br>requirements<br>\uf0b7 Lead initiatives to control illegal wildlife offtake and trade. This include the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>The setting up and running of command centre for planning, monitoring and evaluation of<br>surveillance operations, including a permanent control room for reel time monitoring of antipoaching patrols and implementation of the SMART\/Cybertrackers system to follow up and assess<br>the efficiency and the effectiveness of anti-poaching operations;<\/li><li>Assistance in following up judiciary actions against arrested poachers and other wildlife-related<br>offenders<\/li><li>Developing appropriate institutional framework to coordinate anti-poaching operations around LNP<br>with stakeholders, local administrative authorities and surrounding local communities.<br>\uf0b7 Lead assessments of progress towards the achievement of conservation and sustainable<br>development impacts: Oversee to bio- and socio-economic monitoring to assess biodiversity trends<br>and the contribution of sustainable forest and wildlife management to equitable livelihoods<br>improvement within Indigenous People and local communities.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>What we need:<br>Required Qualifications<br>\uf0b7<br>\uf0b7<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Advanced degree in tropical ecology, wildlife biology, forestry\/natural resource management, rural<br>geography, or any related specialization;<br>At least 7 years of experience in protected area management, development and implementation of<br>sustainable forest and wildlife management strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Required Skills and Competencies<br>\uf0b7 Good knowledge of legal and institutional framework for forest and wildlife management in<br>Cameroon;<br>\uf0b7 Proven knowledge and skills in ecological and socio-economic monitoring and related tools<br>\uf0b7 Experience in community-based forest and wildlife resource management;<br>\uf0b7 Strong analytical skills and computer literacy with proven skills in GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS),<br>SMART\/Cybertracker, statistical package, acoustic monitoring analysis and other software (Camera<br>trap and drone analysis software).<br>\uf0b7 Excellent oral and written communication skills;<br>\uf0b7 Fluency in written and spoken French and working knowledge of English<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Required Behavioural Skills<br>\uf0b7 Proactive approach to meeting deadlines and delivering results with limited supervision;<br>\uf0b7 Willingness and ability to live and work in a remote area;<br>\uf0b7 Adhere to WWF&rsquo;s values: Courage, Respect, Integrity and Collaboration.<br>How to
