For our Country Programme Office in Cameroon, we are looking for a Technical Advisor (TA) to contribute
to the goal of its Jengi TNS Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Context
In 1995, Government declared the area that is now the Lob\u00e9k\u00e9 National Park in South-East Cameroon as an
\u00ab\u00a0essential zone of protection.\u00a0\u00bb It became part of the South East Technical Operational Unit (UTO \/ SE), It was
integrated into the Tri-National Sangha (TNS) landscape following the signature of the transboundary
cooperation agreement on December 7, 2000 by the Governments of the Republic of Cameroon, the Central
African Republic and the Republic of Congo. In 2001, Government classified the ZEP as the Lob\u00e9k\u00e9 National
Park (LNP). WWF has maintained effective presence in the area since 1995, when it created the Jengi
Southeast Forest Programme. Eventually the Program evolved into the present Jengi Tri-Nationale de la
Sangha (TNS) Program that supports the LNP and its peripheral zone in wildlife conservation, contributing to
the well-being of local populations and sustainable management of natural resources through a landscape
approach in partnership with the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, the Fondation pour le Tri-national de la
Sangha (FTNS) and others. FTNS supports the LNP and its peripheral zone through the following annual work
programs:

\uf0b7 Program 2: Participatory management and sustainable development
\uf0b7 Program 3: Research, ecological and socioeconomic monitoring
\uf0b7 Program 4: Tourism, marketing and communication
\uf0b7 Program 5: Administration and Infrastructural Development
\uf0b7 Program 6: Transboundary cooperation
\uf0b7 Program 7: One Health
\uf0b7 Program 8: Administration, monitoring and evaluation
The TA will lead delivery in Programs 1 and 3, and support the achievement of the overall mission of the
Jengi Tri-Nationale de la Sangha (TNS) Program as needed. Consistent WWF Cameroon\u2019s vision of a future

Cameroon, the Jengi Tri-Nationale de la Sangha (TNS) Program has as its mission to stop biodiversity decline,
reverse the negative trend and contribute to the improvement in the living conditions of the local
communities and indigenous people (Baka).
The Technical Advisor will lead delivery in Programs 2 and 4 and support the achievement of the overall
mission of the Jengi Tri-Nationale de la Sangha (TNS) Program as needed. Consistent WWF Cameroon vision
of a future with healthy ecosystems and thriving biodiversity supporting people and driving sustainable
development in Cameroon. The Jengi Tri-Nationale de la Sangha (TNS) Program has as its mission to stop
biodiversity decline, reverse the negative trend and contribute to the improvement in the living conditions
of the local communities and indigenous peoples (Baka).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Location: Mambele, Cameroon
Duration One-year (1 year) renewable
Major functions:
The Technical Advisor will support the Programme Manager in the following areas:
\uf0b7 Conceptualization, planning, implementation, reporting and monitoring of WWF interventions;
\uf0b7 Consolidation and capitalization of the achievements and lessons of the PA co-management
approach;
\uf0b7 Proactively support the design and implementation of the landscape approach to ensure that the
TNS landscape maintains its outstanding natural values for the world heritage site, and contributes
to poverty alleviation through land-based Payment of Ecosystem Services and other forest-based
livelihood initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
\uf0b7<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lead delivery to the highest possible standard of all the outputs of the FTNS-supported Programs 1
and 3
\uf0b7 Ensure the project compliance with technical and financial reporting and monitoring\/evaluation
requirements
\uf0b7 Lead initiatives to control illegal wildlife offtake and trade. This include the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What we need:
Required Qualifications
\uf0b7
\uf0b7<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Advanced degree in tropical ecology, wildlife biology, forestry\/natural resource management, rural
geography, or any related specialization;
At least 7 years of experience in protected area management, development and implementation of
sustainable forest and wildlife management strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Required Skills and Competencies
\uf0b7 Good knowledge of legal and institutional framework for forest and wildlife management in
Cameroon;
\uf0b7 Proven knowledge and skills in ecological and socio-economic monitoring and related tools
\uf0b7 Experience in community-based forest and wildlife resource management;
\uf0b7 Strong analytical skills and computer literacy with proven skills in GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS),
SMART\/Cybertracker, statistical package, acoustic monitoring analysis and other software (Camera
trap and drone analysis software).
\uf0b7 Excellent oral and written communication skills;
\uf0b7 Fluency in written and spoken French and working knowledge of English<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Required Behavioural Skills
\uf0b7 Proactive approach to meeting deadlines and delivering results with limited supervision;
\uf0b7 Willingness and ability to live and work in a remote area;
