BACKGROUND:<\/p>\n\n\n\n


African Parks is a non-profit conservation organization that takes on the complete responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities. We currently manage 20 national parks and protected areas in 11 countries covering over 14.1 million hectares in: Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Bandingilo National Park is located in South Sudan\u2019s equatorial region and was established in 1992. With a mass area of over 10, 000 KM 2. The park hosts the second largest wildlife migration in the world and provides habitat for large populations of hartebeest, buffalo, elephant, giraffes and lions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


JOB OVERVIEW:
The Field Operations Manager is responsible for all internal operations, including fleet management, aviation, construction, stock management, maintenance and logistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


MAIN ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u2022 Develop and implement an integrated operations plan and budget aligned with the park strategy, five-years\u2019 business plan, and annual activity plan;
\u2022 Ensure the operations team is adequately resources (financial, people and equipment) to effectively meet their day-to-day operations requirements and support and advise head of departments to resolve challenges;
\u2022 Oversee all infrastructure development projects and maintenance programmes;
\u2022 Ensure effective budget management and cost control;
\u2022 Ensure adherence to procurement procedures (tenders, contracts);
\u2022 Oversee vehicle fleet management, via workshop manager, which includes
licenses, permits, services, fuel and oil management, spares stock, safety,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

operation procedures (SOP), and technical upgrades;
\u2022 Oversee all stock management procedures including monthly checks of spare
parts tools and fuel consumption;
\u2022 Plan and oversee all construction projects and implement an effective
preventative and corrective maintenance schedule for all buildings;
\u2022 Oversee the maintenance of the aircraft fleet via the Lead Pilot, which includes licenses, permits, services, fuel and oil management, spares stock, safety and
operation procedures (SOP) and technical upgrades; and
\u2022 Undertake other duties as assigned by the Park Manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u2022 Minimum five (5) years of experience in a similar role, with a preference of two (2) years with a conservation or non-profit organization;
\u2022 A post-graduate degree in engineering, construction or related field;
\u2022 Demonstrable in-depth understanding of all of the relevant (park) management
disciplines described above, practical abilities an advantage;
\u2022 Expert knowledge of technical regulations related to operations;
\u2022 High degree of knowledge and understanding of a variety of components of
operations;
\u2022 Excellent organizational, analytical, oral and written communications skills in
English and in French;
\u2022 Strong capacity to manage time and competing priorities;
\u2022 Strong initiative, perseverance, and resilience;
\u2022 Willingness to live in a remote setting and with previous experience living in Africa;
and
\u2022 Good team player with experience working with multicultural teams.
