Together, we seek to protect and restore<br>natural habitats, stop the mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce and consume sustainable.<br>For the Global Environment Facility (GEF) project in Cameroon, we are seeking an Accountant with a spirit of<br>integrity and dedication, to ensure Financial &amp; Accounting operations of the project.<br>Reports to:<br>Finance Manager<br>Location:<br>Yaounde<br>Duration:<br>2 years Fixed term<br>Mission of the Department:<br>The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council approved the 6-year Congo Basin Sustainable Landscapes Impact<br>Program (CBSL IP) which encompasses a regional component, managed by UNEP, and several national child<br>projects in the countries of the Congo Basin.<br>The Cameroon child project is managed by WWF-US as the GEF Agency, executed by the Ministry of Environment,<br>Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED) with WWF Cameroon as Financial<br>Administrator. It addresses the drivers of forest loss and degradation through strategies aimed at strengthening<br>the integrated management of Cameroon\u2019s globally important forest landscapes in the Congo Basin, to secure<br>its biological integrity and increase economic opportunities and livelihoods for forest dependent people.<br>Over the six-year project period, these strategies will be addressed through the implementation of five<br>components:<br>\u25cf Mainstreaming integrated land use planning (LUP) and management;<br>\u25cf Improving management effectiveness and governance of high conservation value forests, and targeted<br>interventions to protect their endangered species;<br>\u25cf Advancing sustainable forest management (SFM) through non-timber forest product (NTFP) and<br>hardwood value chains;<br>\u25cf Increasing benefit generation from biodiversity through sustainable tourism development;<br>\u25cf Monitoring and evaluation (M&amp;E), knowledge management (KM), and regional coordination.<br>The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Cameroon Seeks an Accountant<br>The project targets key Cameroon trans-frontier forest landscape, which stretches from the Rio Campo seascape<br>on the coast, across the Cameroon segments of the Tri-National Dja- Odzala-Minkebe (TRIDOM) and Sangha TriNational (TNS) landscapes towards the east. The target areas for project interventions under each strategy are<br>dependent on site-specific considerations, including the potential to achieve meaningful results in the six-year<br>project period, baselines and available co-financing, and the ability to manage all environmental and social<br>safeguard considerations. Several partners and sub-contractors will be involved or hired for the implementation<br>of different project tasks. Their contribution will need to be coordinated and constantly monitored.<br>Major Functions:<br>The Accountant processes and reconciles a wide variety of accounting documents such as invoices, program<br>billings, employee reimbursements, cash receipts and vendor statements; review financial information; prepare<br>and process documents to disburse funds, make deposits and prepare reports; prepare bank signatory updates,<br>prepares consultant contracts and grants, compile and review information for accuracy; and maintain records.<br>Major Duties and Responsibilities:<br>He\/she will be responsible, among others, for:<br>\u25cf The accountant will ensure the booking of transactions and work closely with the Finance Manager for<br>the smooth process of disbursements to partners and review of the financial reports. He is in charge of<br>the day-to-day bookkeeping.<br>\u25cf Process payments and documents such as invoices, journal vouchers, employee reimbursements, and<br>statements;<br>\u25cf Enter, update, and\/or retrieve accounting data from automated systems;<br>\u25cf Prepare financial reports (donors and Management) for the projects assigned to him\/her;<br>\u25cf Determine content and assemble data in order to prepare monthly reports for review;<br>\u25cf Verify and process employee expense claims;<br>\u25cf File and\/or remove records and reports;<br>\u25cf Assist in the timely closing of monthly account by ensuring cash management, accounts payable and<br>General Ledger data is up to date;<br>\u25cf Draft consultancies contracts and grants and do proper follow up to ensure contract terms are respected;<br>\u25cf Assist in preparing cost recovery journals and upload in the Oracle system;<br>\u25cf Perform assigned roles in the different tools (AP, GL, AGIS, Oracle, Bridger, GFS, Panda Pays, etc.);<br>\u25cf Prepare bank reconciliations and conduct analysis of general ledger accounts manually and in the Oracle<br>system;<br>\u25cf Assign code to data;<br>\u25cf Monitor vendor advances and other receivables and ensure timely clearance of vendor outstanding items,<br>taking corrective follow up actions where required;<br>\u25cf Maintain proper control over various financial records such as commitments and expenditures against<br>budgeted amounts; initiate actions related to the following: general financial information, travel<br>payments, and procurement transactions;<br>\u25cf Provide assistance to all staff services such as travel, expense claims, document retrieval, etc.;<br>\u25cf Perform other related duties as required.<br>Profile:<br>Required Qualifications:<br>\u25cf BSc Degree in Accounting\/finance or a related filed and a professional accounting qualification such as<br>Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA) is required;<br>\u25cf At least three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in financial accounting,<br>preferably in an international environment (NGO or company);<br>\u25cf Experience working with government and donors;<br>\u25cf Proficiency in the use of MS Office applications, particularly advanced level in MS excel is required;<br>\u25cf Experience in using ERP systems is highly desirable.<br>Required Skills and Competencies:<br>\u25cf Knowledge of automated accounting systems.
