Key Responsibilities
Legal Specialist
Country Head 10<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Monitor legal cases, disputes resolutions and preparation of contracts as per local laws.
\u2022 Provide legal assistance to Human Resources team for employment matters (from contract
drafting throughout the entire employee lifecycle)
\u2022 Act as the owner of company\u2019s intellectual property assets such as trademarks, copyrights,
patents, brand names (registrations & renewals)
\u2022 Prepare & send legal notices to clients and Suppliers, filing of legal or civil cases against
debtors defaulting payments,
\u2022 Control compliance vis-\u00e0-vis local regulations for exportation of cocoa
\u2022 Provide counsel and assistance to IT Department on software licensing, anti-infringement
and anti-piracy compliances
\u2022 Collaborate with stakeholders and departments to educate teams on compliance, legal and
data protection requirements and to continuously promote a culture of compliance, integrity and data protection.
\u2022 Identify and implement legal department tools to streamline new or existing practices, as well as manage design, rollout, and training for new systems
\u2022 Develop and enforce processes and policies to manage outside counsel usage and spend
\u2022 Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, support, service, business
development, regulatory, IT, and finance, as well as various business units
\u2022 Organize and maintain all cases files, and information whether electronic or paper, in accordance with Cameroon law
\u2022 Liaise with external lawyers
\u2022 Conduct legal researches to obtain documentation regarding health insurance, social
security, medical records, and medical providers
\u2022 Draft and review letters or contracts to ensure adherence to all legal requirements
\u2022 Collect, arrange, and preserve evidence and other useful documents required for a legal
proceeding
\u2022 Work closely with the country head to select outside law firms and negotiate alternative
fee arrangements
\u2022 Manage billing matters, insurances and other claims
\u2022 Liaise with Legal teams in other markets (countries) for alignment on strategy<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Education & Experience
\u2022 Master\u2019s degree in Private Law
\u2022 06 years of experience in a Law Firm or a corporate Legal Department, ideally in Logistics,
Commodities or Manufacturing
\u2022 Mastery of OHADA laws & regulations

\u2022 Ethics & Integrity
\u2022 Excellent interpersonal & negotiation skills.
\u2022 Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail.
\u2022 Self-starter, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
\u2022 Ability to generate insights to influence decision-making and action plans
\u2022 Excellent verbal and written communication skills (French & English)
\u2022 Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage multiple deadlines
\u2022 Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), and case management software
\u2022 Tech-savvy and well-versed in legal enterprise software, tools, and applications
\u2022 Proficient in legal spend and matter <\/p>\n\n\n\n
