Together, we seek to protect and restore natural habitats, stop the mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce and consume sustainable.<br>For our office in Mambele, we are looking for two Community Facilitators (Volunteers) to support the WWF\/Jengi-TNS programme.<br>Reports to<br>Community Development Officer<br>Location<br>Mamb\u00e8l\u00e8, Boumba and Ngoko Department, Eastern Region, Cameroon<br>Duration<br>6 Months renewable<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Mission of the Department:<br>WWF has maintained an effective presence in the area since 1995, when it created the Jengi South East Forest Programme. The Programme subsequently evolved into the current Jengi Tri-National de la Sangha (TNS) Programme which supports the LNP and its peripheral zone in wildlife conservation, contributing to the well-being of local people and the sustainable management of natural resources through a landscape approach in partnership with the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, the Foundation for the Tri-National de la Sangha (FTNS).<br>FTNS supports the PNL and its peripheral zone through the following annual work programmes: Programme 1: Administration and infrastructure development;<br>Programme 2: Protection;<br>Programme 3: Participatory management and sustainable development;<br>Programme 4: Research, ecological and socio-economic monitoring; Programme 5: Transboundary cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Major functions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The 02 Community Facilitators will contribute, under the supervision of the Community Development Officer (CDO), to the implementation of Programme 3, and support the achievement of the overall mission of the Jengi-TNS Programme as required. In line with WWF Cameroon&rsquo;s vision of a future with healthy ecosystems and flourishing biodiversity supporting people and sustainable development in Cameroon, the mission of the Jengi-TNS Programme is to halt the decline of biodiversity, reverse the negative trend and contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of local communities and indigenous peoples (Baka).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Major duties:<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to the delivery of all program results 3;<br>\uf0b7 Inform local communities and indigenous Baka populations of WWF activities and initiatives in favor of the<br>Baka;<br>\uf0b7 Conduct sensitization, education and popularization of laws in force regarding the sustainable management of<br>forest and wildlife resources;<br>\uf0b7 Provide technical assistance for the implementation of the protocol of agreement between MINFOF and<br>ASBABUK, recognizing and protecting the rights of the indigenous Baka peoples in the PNL and its peripheries; Monitor and provide guidance on community development activities (IGAs, community forestry, citizenship, education support, human rights, ecotourism, sustainable management of wildlife and forest royalties, etc.) implemented by civil society organizations on behalf of the LFN under FTNS funding;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\uf0b7 Provide technical and organizational assistance to local communities and indigenous Baka populations to develop and implement IGA activities;<br>\uf0b7 Collect relevant data for socio-economic monitoring;<br>\uf0b7 Contribute to ensuring program compliance with technical and financial reporting and monitoring\/evaluation<br>requirements;<br>\uf0b7 Perform any other tasks, as assigned by the CDO, in relation to the communities and in accordance with WWF<br>policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Profile:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Required Qualifications<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\uf0b7 Have at least a degree in forestry, social science, law, governance, natural resource management;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\uf0b7 Have at least 1 year of professional experience in participatory management of protected areas and particularly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>in the health-population and environment approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Required Skills and Competencies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\uf0b7 Be Cameroonian and motivated;<br>\uf0b7 Have a good knowledge of the WWF intervention zone in the TNS landscapes;<br>\uf0b7 Experience of working with communities in forest areas;<br>\uf0b7 Knowledge of local languages (Kounabembe, Mvongvong, Bagando, Baka\u2026) will be an asset;<br>\uf0b7 Strong ability to write notes and activity reports;<br>\uf0b7 Communication skills, ability to lead field teams and to work under pressure;<br>\uf0b7 Fluency in English and French;<br>\uf0b7 Proactive approach to meeting deadlines and achieving results with limited supervision;<br>\uf0b7 Willingness and ability to live and work in a remote area;<br>\uf0b7 Adheres to WWF\u2019s brand values: Courage, Integrity, Respect and Collaboration.<br>This job advert covers the main tasks and conveys the spirit of the sort of tasks that are anticipated proactively from staff.
