Job Description
The safety officer will assist the production department by evaluating and monitoring health
and safety hazards and develop strategies to control risks in the construction site. The officer is
responsible for inspecting the construction site to ensure compliance with workplace safety
regulations and the handling and storage of hazardous substances
Duties and Responsibilities (Not Exhaustive)
\u2022 Define health and safety policies, guidelines, regulations and procedures for the plant
site in compliance with government laws;
\u2022 Coordinate and implement safety rules in all construction and production processes
according to company\u2019s policies;
\u2022 Organize training programs and educate workers and staff on plant safety measures and
practices;
\u2022 Inspect plant site to ensure that production equipment is safely installed and oversee
their maintenance;
\u2022 Regularly inspect materials and production processes to ensure that they do not present
safety or health threats to workers and the general public;
\u2022 Constantly carry out risk assessment analysis for every process to identify new treats
and provide preventive health and safety measures;
\u2022 Implement operational safety, hazard control and industrial hygiene programs;
\u2022 Investigate health and safety complaints, spills of hazardous chemicals, outbreaks of
diseases or poisonings, and workplace accidents and provide possible solutions to
management;
\u2022 Ensure that proper safety measures are being observed at all times by all employees;
\u2022 Prepare reports on incidences and provide statistical data to management.
Skills;
\u2022 A good understanding of the processes and practices in a cement plant and possible risk
zones;
\u2022 Excellent knowledge of modern health & safety laws and procedures and environmental
regulations;
\u2022 Knowledge in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics;
\u2022 Good communication skills, an outstanding aptitude to work in a team;
\u2022 Fluent in English and German speaking and writing; Working knowledge in French;
\u2022 Very good Microsoft Office skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Qualification
\u2022 A Bachelor\u2019s Degree or its equivalent in Health and Safety Management, engineering
or any relevant field.
\u2022 A certificate in occupational health and safety is an advantage.
Experience
\u2022 At least 2 years\u2019 experience in managing health and safety operations of plants.
\u2022 Experience in writing health and safety policies and reports for manufacturing
companies.
\u2022 A working knowledge of safety management information systems.
