The focus would be on the Directorate for Regulation and Quality Control of Agricultural Inputs and Products (DRCQ). But the support will be extended to other essential public and private partners, including universities.\u00a0<br><strong>Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Conduct a rapid appraisal of current capacities in seed potato quality assurance through field visits and stakeholders workshops;<\/li><li>Train lab technicians on the use of ELISA kits for detecting bacterial wilt and potato viruses;<\/li><li>Train field controllers and inspectors on sampling techniques and use of the certification protocols; and<\/li><li>Advise on the lab setups and develop brief business\/operational plans required for three DRCQ diagnostic labs, i.e., in the West, North-West, and Adamawa regions for detecting bacterial wilt and potato viruses.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deliverables<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Two regional workshops for a rapid appraisal of the current status in seed potato quality assurance in the three target regions facilitated;<\/li><li>A short-term workplan for strengthening the capacities of key actors in seed potato quality assurance based on the findings developed;<\/li><li>Advise on the lab setups provided and brief business\/operational plans for the diagnostic labs in the three project regions for bacterial wilt and major potato viruses developed;<\/li><li>Two training workshops in the West and Adamawa regions for lab technicians from the three target regions on the use of ELISA kits facilitated;<\/li><li>Two training workshops on pest and disease detection and seed certification in the West and Adamawa regions for seed inspectors and controllers from the three target regions facilitated.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Expected duration and conditions:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>This consultancy contract is for 45 days from May to July 2021.<\/li><li>The payment is a fixed and consolidated fee based on a daily rate.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">REQUIREMENTS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications\/special skills<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>At least a MSc. degree in Biotechnology, Plant pathology, or related fields.<\/li><li>Proven experience with the use of DAS and NCM ELISA kits for the detection of the bacterial wilt and major potato viruses.<\/li><li>At least 10 years&rsquo; experience working with seed regulatory bodies with a track record in the application of seed potato certification guidelines.<\/li><li>Previous experience facilitating training workshops.<\/li><li>Excellent organization skills.<\/li><li>Excellent writing and communication skills in English or French, preferably bilingual.<\/li><li>Willingness to travel to Yaound\u00e9, Bafoussam and Ngaound\u00e9r\u00e9 in Cameroon.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Process:<\/strong><br>Applicants should apply online through our CIP&rsquo;s Job Opportunities website (\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/cipotato.org\/open-vacancies\/\">http:\/\/cipotato.org\/open-vacancies\/<\/a>), including a full C.V with the names and contact information of three references that are knowledgeable of the candidate&rsquo;s professional qualifications and work experience.
