Summary:

Duties

The position oversees administrative tasks of the American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit for the U.S. Embassy in Cameroon which is the assigned ACS processing post for Cameroon and Central African Republic. Routine outreach to the customer base and network development with host country interlocutors are core work responsibilities. The position will process regular and emergency passports, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, and notarial services; distribute federal benefits for the Social Security Administration to U.S. citizens residing in Cameroon and Central African Republic; and be responsible for all Special Citizen Services (SCS) including assisting U.S. citizens who have been detained, injured, victims of crime, etc. The position is responsible for handling ACS correspondence and maintaining orderly filing systems. The position will work closely with the USDH ACS Chief and Rotational Consular Assistant.


Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE: At least three (03) years of progressively responsible experience in a customer service environment and complex administrative functions or sub functions in an international organization or large local institution is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE: Incumbent must be able to use tact and diplomacy in responding to customers and must have high levels of customer service. Must have the ability to handle complex administrative duties. Must be able to deal with difficult customers and work under pressure. Must be able to prioritize tasks and be able to operate very independently and master the specifics of the position without substantial formal training or review. Knowledge of local, regional and national political, economic, social, cultural, and security environment.
Education Requirements:

    Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Human Resources, Law, Project Management or Sociology is required.
Evaluations:

    LANGUAGE: Fluency in Reading/Writing/Speaking/Understanding of both English and French are required. This may be tested.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Tact and diplomacy when dealing with the public. Good computer literacy and ability to master proprietary software like Microsoft Access.  Must be able to work on MS Office at the intermediate level – Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.  Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.  Must have excellent interpersonal, customer service, problem-solving and adaptability skills. This may be tested.

    Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Yaoundé – Cameroon may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

    For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

    The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
