Duties
Under the direct supervision of the Senior General Services Officer, incumbent provides Administrative and Support services to the General Services Office (GSO) of two US Direct Hires (USDH), one Eligible Family Member (EFM) GSO Assistant and 35 Locally Employed Staff. Incumbent serves as the GSO sub-cashier and backup sub-cashier for the Facilities Management section, issues petty cash as well as enters all transactions into COAST Cashiering. The incumbent is the primary timekeeper for four GSO sections, manages the reception desk, maintains the GSO contact database, drafts correspondences, coordinates meetings, routes documents and invoices for GSO Contracting Officers signature. Puts in Access Requests for GSO employees and escorts outside customers.


Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years of prior administrative assistant experience, including clerical accounting, in an international organization or a large local organization of 50 or more employees is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of filing and record-keeping principles. Basic arithmetic is required. Knowledge of basic protocol procedures. Good knowledge of time management strategies to effectively manage job tasks and responsibilities. Must be computer literate in MS Excel, MSWord, PowerPoint, and basic data management software and basic knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.

Education Requirements:
Two years university studies is required.

Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Good Working Knowledge (Reading/Writing/Speaking) English and French is required. This may be tested.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Typing ability of 40 wpm is required. Must be skilled in the use of copiers, faxes, PCs, printers, scanners, and office telephones. Must be accurate in giving and taking information. Must be tactful and diplomatic in answering calls and dealing with all internal and external clients. Must have good listening and judgment skills. Must be able to develop and maintain contacts with key internal and external clients of the GSO section. Must have good organizational and interpersonal skills. These may be tested.

SALARY: The annual gross salary includes: the Basic Rate, the Miscellaneous Benefits Allowance, and the End-of-the-Year Bonus.  Seniority Allowance is paid in accordance with local labor law. A Cashier allowance is paid for eligible positions.


MEDICAL BENEFITS: The U.S. Mission in Yaoundé directly reimburse eligible employees for covered medical expenses incurred for them and/or eligible dependents, subject to the stated limits of the Local Compensation Plan.


LEAVE BENEFITS: Subject to the stated limits and rules of the Local Compensation Plan, employees are entitled to the following types of leaves: Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Maternity Leave, Special Leave.


HOLIDAYS: The U.S. Mission in Yaoundé and the Embassy Branch Office in Douala observe American and Cameroonian public holidays, about 19 holidays per year.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

The security certification is a 2-4 months process, and is done by the Regional Security Office (RSO), who will contact the applicant once he/she completed the requirements provided with the Conditional Offer

The medical clearance is covered by the U.S. Embassy, and will be completed by the applicant separately, during the security certification process.

Once HR Office receives the medical clearance and the security certification, the applicant will receive a Formal Offer with an agreed start date.
